Marinapalooza started in Marina del Rey California when a group of friends came together to perform music on the street of Catamaran. It has now grown to be a national event but it’s roots are still in Marina del Rey. Each year there are a few places in Marina del Rey where live bands perform. We will keep you posted about all of the bands and locations in Marina del Rey for the 4th of July 2009 from this site.

I registered the music of one band (could they have been old enough to drive their equipment over or was that a small group of band moms dozing in folding chairs behind a hollowed-out mini-van?). They kept stopping in the middle of one song to play another half-way through, and each time they stopped they would look dumbly at each other and engage in a little 30-second spat over who got to sit in the front on the way home (at least that’s what it looked like from the humble audience member’s point of view).
