Last year we had such a killer accidental party at my hit that we had to make it official this time.

I’d love to have you join the party! Bring your friends! I can offer a fabulous L. Union view, lots of great food, a few drinks, a few laughs, and a private bathroom! Way better than the park.

Musicians: bring your axes cause who knows? I’ll have a Fender Rhodes, drum kit, and some amplification…

I’ll be shotgunning PBRs and love to share, but you’d better bring something you like to drink too so the fun lasts all night. Carmey J’s promised us patriotic jello shots. Other than that, just bring your party hat!

Many of you have been asking, as you do every year, is the Marinapalooza happening again this year??? The answer is YES, yes, YeS!!!! Marinapalooza is here to stay and is only gaining in popularity and notoriety each year…
It’s true, there are several bad apples in our neighborhood that would prefer to have the peace and quiet of an Iowa cornfield 24/7, 365…but for this ONE day each year, we all come together to celebrate our country’s independence by bonding in ultimate party style! With that said, please feel free to bring a cooler with the drink of your choice, set up your beach chair or blanket, and kick back and enjoy the SIXTEEN musical acts scheduled for this year.

Please know that there will be public port-o-potties set up at each end of Catamaran St. between Speedway and Pacific….unfortunately, my apartment must remain closed, as I am no longer ‘officially’ affiliated with this event.

Marinapalooza is sponsored by Bud & Bud Light, Jack Daniels, several radio stations, venicethemenice.com, surfrider foundation, creative chakra spa and AMP’d energy drinks…there will also be several booths setup from local businesses (i.e. ‘arbor’)…The festival kicks off at 10AM and will go until at least 10pm…although this year Marinapalooza is on a Saturday night, so it may be going past the normal 10pm this year…
Keep in mind if you are driving, your best option for parking is the lot at the end of Washington Blvd at the beach…it should cost about $10 or less, and you won’t have to hassle looking for parking if you come early…the later in the morning to early afternoon you come, your chances of even getting into the neighborhood are slim, as the police set up several blocks away due to the fireworks show planned for the evening and the sheer craziness of mass amounts of people populating one small beach area…riding bikes is always encouraged…
Please observe all posted signs on the block, respect the neighbors and the neighborhood by cleaning up any trash, not fighting and abide by the laws being enforced by any of the 50 to 100 officers on hand annually.

Are you looking forward to MARINAPALOOZA this year and all the live music near the beach?  We bet you are and there are a few live venues that you should check out between now and July 4, 2009.  One is the Garter.  Really it is in Venice but it is right next to Marina del Rey.  They have some great acts including Stevie Natalie and have $4 well drink specials from 4-10 every day!  They also have people dancing when you come in and a great outside patio that you can hang in.  If you need a live music fix before MARINAPALOOZA this year you should check out the Garter.

Venues all around Seattle however there is only one MARINAPALOOZA in the Shilshole Bay Mainra. This large public beach hosts live music every 4th of July. Bands are full of energy and deliver bright sounds for everyone’s enjoyment!  Shilshole Bay is located just north of Seattle and south of Edmonds.  They have many small sail and power boats.  There are also a few restraunts and yacht clubs.

MARINAPALOOZA supports these bands and artists that have added to the events. The following bands perform live in Shilshole Bay Marina, Crown Hill, Downtown Seattle, Poulsbo, or a King County location.

Redondo Beach California / Orange County Bands are very active and on fire for the 4th of July. The artists here have supported MARINAPALOOZA for years and we ask that you visit them for more specific information. King Harbor is the location of the “marina” in South Bay so join us at MAINRAPALOOZA! Please note the City of Redondo Beach’s policy on Fireworks during the 4th of July. There is a large barge!

King Harbor is located in Redondo Beach in South Bay.  It is about a 30 minute drive from Marina del Rey and it has many auxiliary craft.

Channel Islands and Ventura County California have a wonderful venue for hosting MARINAPALOOZA!

The Channel Islands Harbor participation in the Fireworks for the 4th of July is excellent and the “marina” is alive with activity. We also suggest checking out the live music at Spectrum Bar and Restraunt right in the marina!

Marinapalooza started in Marina del Rey California when a group of friends came together to perform music on the street of Catamaran.  It has now grown to be a national event but it’s roots are still in Marina del Rey.  Each year there are a few places in Marina del Rey where live bands perform.  We will keep you posted about all of the bands and locations in Marina del Rey for the 4th of July 2009 from this site.
